Join us as we explore how to make a BABKA, the delectable sweet yeasted bread, typically braided and swirled with a rich chocolate or cinnamon filling. In this class, you’ll learn the basic techniques for making a soft, buttery brioche dough along with two classic babka fillings – chocolate and cinnamon. After learning different shaping methods, you’ll roll and braid your very own babka to bake in class. You’ll also leave with some extra dough and filling for making a second babka creation at home. During class, there will be plenty of babka for you to enjoy.

CHALLAH BAKING CLASS with EMILY THURSDAY, MARCH 13TH 4:00pm – 6:30pm

Join us for a delicious time at the Asheville Kitchen as we learn the art of challah making with baker Emily Baron. She’ll walk you through her favorite recipe for a perfectly golden, feathery, slightly sweet challah while sharing some tips and tricks for customizing the dough to suit your tastes. You’ll then learn three different braiding techniques – including the impressive 6-strand braid – before braiding your very own challah. You’ll leave with both a baked loaf of challah and a ball of dough to braid and bake at home.

Are you ready to take your bagel-making skills to the next level? Join us for our Bagels Baking Class and unlock the secrets to creating amazing bagels at home! During this hands-on experience, Emily will guide you through every step of the bagel-making process, from mixing and fermenting the dough to rolling the bagels to boiling and baking. But that's not all! In addition to mastering the art of bagel-making, we'll be making indulgent whipped cream cheese spreads that will elevate your bagel creations to new heights including a savory Scallion Cream Cheese that adds a burst of freshness to each bite and a delightfully sweet and nutty Honey Pecan Cream Cheese.

BIALYS AND BUTTER with EMILY SUNDAY MARCH 9th 11am – 2pm

Join Emily in making the lesser known but equally delicious cousin to the bagel – the bialy! Originating in Bialystock, Poland, this soft but chewy baked good is lighter than a bagel and traditionally filled with onions and poppyseeds. In this class, you'll learn every step of the bialy making process, including how to build a pre-ferment to bring extra flavor to your dough, and the secret to making the perfect caramelized onions to fill your bialy. As an added bonus, while the bialys proof and bake we'll make some homemade cultured butter to slather on our bialys when they’re warm out of the oven.
